A healthy immune system promises a healthy body. But what if your immune system deteriorates? A person is more at risk of developing cancers as well as infections. Infections can develop and spread rather quickly in people with weak immune system. For instance, a sore throat can more likely develop into chest infection and you may have to see a doctor. What can we do to keep our immune system healthy? Well, all you have to do is continue reading and apply the following four measures in your daily routine.

Maintain a Healthy diet

Healthy diet is the potential mean of boosting your immune functions. Consuming low-fat content diet, vegetables (with high vitamin content) and dietary fibers may help in boosting immunity. It keeps your body healthy along with keeping a check on your body weight. As obesity leads to a number of diseases also including the risk of infections, avoid oily or junk food and stay healthy.

Consume vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants

Normally we fail to consume micro-nutrients (nutrients that are needed in minuscule amount but are extremely important for our body) such as Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, magnesium, zinc and many more. These vitamins and minerals help in drastic improvement in immune system.

Sources

  • Edibles including sweet peppers, oranges, lemons, tomato, broccoli and strawberries are a good source for Vitamin C
  • Vegetable oils (sunflower and olive), nuts and seeds, spinach and broccoli are a potential source of vitamin E
  • Beta-carotenes rich foods include: potatoes, carrots and green leafy vegetables.
  • Major sources for zinc include whole milk and grain products, red meat and poultry, nuts (cashews and almond), pumpkin seeds, beans, lentils and sesame seeds etc.
  • Research has shown that Vitamin D intake may decrease the possibility of viral infections. Potential sources of vitamin D include fortified cereals and plant based milks and supplements.

Exercise regularly

Regular exercise is a prominent step among various steps of healthy living. It helps improve cardiovascular health, lowers the blood pressure, help control body weight and protects against a variety of diseases. But the question arises_ whether it boosts up your immune system naturally? Similar to a healthy diet, moderate regular exercise can contribute in general good health along with a healthy immune system. Therefore, regular exercise is a key feature in boosting your immune system as well.

Go to Bed early

Having a good sleep is almost as essential as healthy diet and exercise but we often neglect its significance and vitality. Sleep enables our body to relax and reboots the system. But think about it_ if we don’t let our body rest, what will happen? Our body functions become impaired. Sleep deprivation casts too many negative effects on human health that also include decrease in immune functions. So, if you are awake even if its midnight, please throw whatever you’re doing out of the window and go to bed for your own sake and health.

Say goodbye to stress

Human immune system and mental health are correlated. They both have strong effects on each other. When you are stressed or going through an episode of anxiety, your body produces stress hormones that suppress your immune system. Therefore, stay happy and avoid stress as much as you can. One of the most important factor of immunity boosting is to stay happy. So stay cheerful while pasting large grins on your faces :)
